Development and pre-production got your head spinning like a laundromat? Do the thoughts of signing contracts and learning union rules feel like you’re verse jumping through universes? Bring your questions! New England based SAG-AFTRA staff, the actors’ union, along with experienced and knowledgeable producers will help you fully realize your creative vision without limitations. We’ll help you find the joy in understanding the actual process, and share how easy it can be to have union actors in your student, short, or indie productions – no matter the budget level!

Reserving your tickets does not necessarily guarantee admission, but we rarely turn anyone away from our free events. Please plan to arrive early—ideally 20 to 30 minutes before showtime—to ensure entry.
SAG-AFTRA Panel:
Jessica Maher serves as the Executive Director of SAG-AFTRA New England. Having initially worked with AFTRA/SAG Boston in the late 1990s, she returned to the union in 2008 and has served in various roles. She successfully guided the local union through the 2023 TV/Theatrical strike, and her focus has since centered on expanding employment opportunities for members across all New England states, as well as advocating for artificial intelligence protections and guardrails.
Liz Eng is a writer/producer who believes in amplying underrepresented voices through collaborative filmmaking. Liz serves as the president of SAG-AFTRA New England Local representing over 4,000 members, and is a proud union actor for nearly 20 years. Liz is also the Massachusetts Chapter Officer of the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA), AFL-CIO, the first and only national organization of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander workers.
