MISSION
Boston Asian American Film Festival (BAAFF) empowers Asian Americans through film by showcasing Asian American experiences and serving as a resource to filmmakers and the Greater Boston Community. BAAFF is a co-production of the Asian American Resource Workshop and ArtsEmerson.

Boston Asian American Film Festival (BAAFF) is the largest Asian American film festival in New England. Our interest resides in the passion to bring Asian American films to the public and to educate them on the experiences that Asian Americans face in society. There are many issues in our society that are not being recognized such as gentrification and discrimination; and we are here to help raise awareness to these concerns.

Intersested in screening films?

The Boston Asian American Film Festival’s screening committee is made up of volunteers whose role is to watch and review submissions, providing notes and recommendations for programmers to review when they evaluate submissions. While screeners may not make direct final decisions regarding programming, your feedback on the films is invaluable to the programming team and plays a crucial role in our decision-making for the final festival lineup.

Requirements to join the committee is listed below:
– You have a computer to watch the films on (watching films can be done at your own pace during the week)
– A minimum commitment of 3 hours per week to screening films

-Availability to attend weekly meetings over Zoom to discuss films.
-You need to be responsible with the film submissions and respectful of filmmakers’ privacy; screeners will neither discuss entries nor share with those outside of the screening committee the films and/or any information about the films.

If you’re interested in becoming a part of the programming team and helping us identify strong candidates for the main festival program, please fill out the form below. We welcome anyone to apply, no film degree required!
